Kolkata Knight Riders
started their campaign in IPL 2020 with a defeat. Mumbai Indians beat KKR by 49
runs. Consecutive victories of Mumbai Indians put Rohit Sharma lead brigade top
of the table.
After winning the toss
KKR captain Dinesh Kartik sent MI to bat first and MI grab the opportunity with
two hands. Rohit Sharma’s innings of 80 runs set the stage for MI. After quick
depart of de Kock (1), Suryakumar Yadav holds the innings with Rohit. He added
47 crucial runs. But unfortunately, he got run out. At the end of MI innings
Hardik Pandya added 18 runs. MI set the target of 196 for KKR.
The most valuable player
of the auction Pat Cummins failed to impress. Youngster Shivam Mavi took 2
wickets.
In the response of
Mumbai’s innings non of KKR top-order batsmen got runs. Shubman Gill (7), Sunil
Narine (9), Nitesh Rana (24), Eion Morgan (16), Andre Russell (11) everyone
failed with the bat. Skipper Kartik (30) tried but did not manage to do more.
At the end of the innings Pat Cummins (33) played a cameo inning but that was
of no use. After 20 overs score of KKR was 146/9.
