Purab Joshi smashed maiden fifty of the tournament while bowlers Md
Kaif, Aritra Chatterjee bagged 3 wickets apiece as an all-round Town Club
defeated Tapan Memorial by 28 runs in Bengal T20 Challenger today at Eden
Gardens.
After winning the toss Town Club elected to bat first and thanks to
Purab's 39-ball 51 they amassed 146/3 in their quota of 20 overs.
While chasing Tapan Memorial got off to a shaky start losing 4
wickets for just 44 runs and ended up being bundled for 118 runs as Md Kaif
(3-17), Aritra Chatterjee (3-16) bagged 3 wickets apiece.
Man of the match Purab said: "Our aim was to again get back to
the winning ways and our team has put up a complete performance, very happy
about that. The wicket was sporting and we executed our plan well
accordingly."
Earlier along with Purab, Naved Ahamed also played a patient innings
of 43 runs off 45 balls while Prayas Ray Burman, Sandipan Das and Nilkantha Das
picked up 1 wickets apiece for Tapan.
An elated Town skipper Avijit Singh said: "We have played
disciplined cricket throughout the match, which is very important. Purab and
Naved set the tone of the match for us while the bowlers finished the job well.
We will try to continue this form and grow better."
Tapan lost wickets in regular intervals whiel Tarun Godara put up a
lone fight with 27-ball 46 (3x4, 3x6) till Kaif caught him off Aritra in the
18th over.
