Danish Iqbal on Saturday formally took charge as the General Secretary of Mohammedan Sporting Club. Danish was elected as the Interim General
Secretary back in February. However after achieving extraordinary success as an
administrator in a short amount of time the Executive Committee unanimously
decided to make the post permanent.
Under Mr. Danish’s tenure Mohammedan Sporting
Club did not only survive in the I-League for the very first time but also
achieved their best position ever when they finished at sixth place.
“I am honoured to be associated with
Mohammedan Sporting Club and would like to thank the Executive Committee for
considering me for this post. There was a time when Mohammedan Sporting Club
set the benchmark in Indian Football and we will leave no stones unturned to
take Mohammedan Sporting Club where it belongs,” said Mr. Danish.
Danish believes in a city like Kolkata where
football is like a religion and every other kid aspires to be the next Sunil
Chhetri or Bhaichung Bhutia with support from all corners of the society,
specially media, Mohammedan Sporting Club will soon be the powerhouse of Indian
football.
