RoundGlass Punjab FC (RGPFC)
are resolved to get back on the winning track as they take on
table-toppers Churchill Brothers FC Goa on January 19, Tuesday, at 2 pm at the
Salt Lake Stadium.
In the pre-match press conference, RGPFC Head Coach Curtis Fleming
said, “Every game is of 90 minutes and every time we learn from our mistakes.
Our next game will be against Churchill and it’s going to be a very difficult
game for us. We took the positives and negatives from the Gokulam game and used
that for our preparation for the game against Churchill.”
Midfielder Sanju Pradhan, who played extremely well against Gokulam
Kerala, to whom RGPFC lost on January 14, is confident ahead of the next game.
“We are prepared for the Churchill challenge. We have learned from our mistakes
and are ready for the next game. We know that Churchill is a quality and
experienced side, but we are ready for the task,” he said.
Head Coach Fleming is clearly optimistic about his team’s
performance. “Only two games are gone and everybody seems carried away. We
played two, won one and lost one. Every game will be difficult this season.
This is our first time in the I-League and this happens to be a top league in
India. There is no doubt that Churchill has an experienced coach and an
experienced squad, and we are excited about this challenge,” said Fleming.
Is spite of defeat against Gokulam, Sanju said, “We are very
positive. Our gaffer did a great job motivating every one of us. We are ready
to give more than 100% against Churchill.”
Some RGPFC players have been injured and coach gave an update on
them: “We have a couple of injury worries but Bikramjit is doing well, he is
back in training; Sumeet too is not far from gaining full fitness. Jiten has gone for a scan and I hope he will
be available soon. Ashish Jha and Denzil too are not yet fit, but we just can’t
mourn about the injuries. These are part of the game.” A win against Churchill
will take RoundGlass Punjab FC to the top of the points table.
